Intel 8086 CPU Tester
This tester is designed to check DIP-40 pin Intel 8086 CPUs.
While the tester does not test every function of the 8086, it verifies enough to ensure the CPU is working or faulty.
CPU Tests:
– Test all address and data lines
– Executes instructions from RAM/ROM, further verifying address and data line integrity.
– Performs read/write checks to RAM
– 8 Output LED’s are driven via an I/O mapped latch.
– CPU clock generated by an Intel 8284 clock generator chip.

1 x 8086 CPU Tester (The actual 8086 CPU is not included in the sale)
Usage:
- Insert the 8086 CPU into the ZIF socket and make sure the orientation is correct. (Pin 1 top left)
- Connect a mini USB Type B cable (Not supplied) from your PC (Or 5V USB charger) to the CPU Tester.
With a working 8086 CPU, the code executes from ROM, running tests and pulsing the 8 LEDs in a “Knight Rider” style sequence. This test repeats in a loop.
If the 8086 is faulty, the code may not start (so no LEDs light), or the display will freeze while pulsing through the LED’s.

Each tester has been carefully assembled and tested to ensure proper operation before shipping.
