Multi RAM Tester
The Multi RAM Tester is a tool I designed myself to test vintage DRAM and SRAM chips which cannot be tested with modern testers like the TL866 / T48
The tester supports a large range of chips up to 20 pins. See photos for a list of RAM chips that the tester suports.
While this device checks all the common RAM chips, if there are other types of RAM that users need adding (and the hardware supports it) I will update the firmware and make it available for download. The device can then be upgraded via the USB port using avrdude. (Instructions for upgrading will be supplied)
The test procedures are designed to run quickly and look for common issues with RAM chips.
The Multi RAM Tester performs 3 tests:
- Test for stuck address lines (high or low)
- Test for stuck data lines (high or low)
- Test each memory location using a variety of test methods (walking, fill, random)
Whilst the tester does a good job at detecting faulty memory cells and stuck data/address lines, it will not detect every single possible issue 100% of the time. A product like this is unlikely to exist especially when testing 20 year old, or ever 30 year old memory chips.
I have spent a few months designing this and ironed out all of the bugs, however it’s possible there might be a few bugs I have missed. If you experience any issues please contact me and if I can replicate the issue then this will be fixed and firmware updated and made available for download. (Firmware can be updated using avrdude software. Instructions are included in the mail)
The instruction manual can be downloaded here
You will need to connect the tester to a 5V USB source (PC or USB Charger) using a USB Mini Type B Cable (Not supplied)
Item will be shipped as a small parcel using Royal Mail 2nd Class.
