MPS6540 ROM Tester
An Arduino Mega 2560 shield to test Commodore PET MPS 6540 ROMs.
MPS6540 ROMs are custom ROMs designed by Commodore and have 5 chip select lines.
As this is a custom chip, modern chip testers like the TL866 is unable to test them. If you are troubleshooting PET’s and you don’t have a known good working computer to test the ROM’s in, this makes it difficult to troubleshoot.
I built an shield for the Arduino Mega 2560 which tests the ROM’s. I use this to also test the MPS6540 replacement ROM’s that I sell on my store.
To use this shield you will need to have a Arduino Mega 2560 (Not included in sale) and have some knowledge using Arduino IDE to upload the code to the Arduino, and view the serial output results from the test.
