This is a replacement ROM for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k.

The ROM will come programmed with the “JGH” Update ROM which contains a BIOS update, bug fixes from the factory ROM, and some new features like black background and white characters.

By setting various jumpers the EEPROM can be erased and re-programmed with other ROM’s or even the DiagROM for troubleshooting. You will need to use a suitable programmer like the TL866II Plus (Not supplied)

To use this ROM you will need to make sure that there is already a socket in place on the ZX Spectrum. Otherwise you will need to remove the ROM on the Spectrum and solder this ROM in (not recommended as it then cannot be reprogrammed), or solder in a socket.

Setup:
To re-program the EEPROM you will need to set the jumpers as follows:
  • Enable:  JP1,2,3,4
  • Disable: JP5,6,7,8
To reprogram the EEPROM with the TL866 set the chip type to Atmel AT28C256, and select programming range 0x0000 to 0x3FFF
Using as a 23128 (This will be the default setting)
  • Enable: JP4,5,6,7,8 (1-2)
  • Disable: JP1,2,3
